Virgin Voyages - A New Sailing Experience for the Future

Virgin Voyages’ first ship, Scarlet Lady, will arrive at Port Miami in 2020 for her inaugural sailing season where she will sail to the Caribbean. The cruise will offer a mix of itineraries, which will include voyages to Cuba on select sailings. Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin team promises a new sailing experience for the future that includes an eco-sustainable practice on the environment and on tourism. It has partnered with Climeon, a Sweden-based technology company, with a goal to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by converting engine waste heat into clean electricity.

… that future includes a healthy ocean that’s been cared for and treated with respect. That’s why we’re working hard to secure a sound future for the place that has so openly welcomed us to explore and travel its waters.

During her inaugural 2020 season, the Scarlet Lady will sail a mix of Caribbean voyages befitting of any curious traveler’s tastes, with four and five night Havana After Dark itineraries featuring an overnight stay in Havana, Cuba; five-night Mayan Sol voyages to Costa Maya, Mexico and five-night Dominican Daze voyages to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

For its interiors and design the ship is working with a Creative Collective comprised of some of the most sought-after interior designers, artists and architects including Roman and Williams, Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio, among others. Its RockStar Suites are designed by Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio throwing out traditional cliches on luxury and formalities, instead bringing Rebellious Luxe to life at sea.

Modern, yacht-inspired aesthetic and clever cabin technology make for more than just a space to live (or sleep)

With wellness being at the forefront of the onboard experience, the ship is equipped with fitness facilities, classes, a well-being pool designed by Concrete Amsterdam, an Aquatic and Athletic Club, multiple spas, Stubble and Groom for men, Mani Pedi spa and even a tattoo studio (the first ever on a cruise boat?).
